Have You Heard About Watershed's Innovative Broodmare Lease & Board-To-Own Programs?
These special programs allow our clients even more affordable, low-risk options for investing in quality Thoroughbreds. Instead of spending tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to take a chance buying a broodmare at the sales, our affordable lease and board-to-own plans allow for a low initial investment for a high quality broodmare, plus a guarantee that she will get or be in foal, enjoy low board rates, excellent care, and a guaranteed result.
OPTION #1 - LEASE OPTION: We offer high-end broodmares by some of the hottest sires in the industry in our wildly-popular lease program. All mares come with a pregnancy guarantee: if they don't get in foal, you can cancel your lease contract or switch to another available broodmare. And use of the mare is FREE - yes, we said FREE. There are no hidden lease fees for use of our mares! Simply pay the stud fee for the stallion of your choice (or put that extra stallion season to good use), then pay the monthly board bill and vet and farrier bills for the mare. Leased mares must boarded at Watershed for the duration of pregnancy, foaling, and until weaning, when the lucky owner may take possession of their weanling and will have the option to continue to board with us at the same low rate, or take it to the sales and cash in! This is an excellent opportunity for someone to get started in the thoroughbred business without the long term commitment, expense, and risk of owning a mare. OPTION #2 - BOARD-TO-OWN: Periodically we offer special broodmares IN FOAL and list them as FREE. Um, what? Yes, you read that correctly: FREE, for actual ownership of both the mare and her PAID IN FULL PREGNANCY. What's the catch, you say? Simple. You pay board and expenses (vet & farrier) at Watershed for the mare and her in-utero foal until the resulting 2020 foal is six (6) months old, at which time you can continue to board them with us, or feel free to move them to another farm. You will own the mare AND the pregnancy she is carrying. Again, the stud fee on the stallion is paid IN FULL. It's that simple! These mares go FAST, so why not try it?
